In all the departments of France, the volunteers of the SPF who are tirelessly on the ground to come to the aid of the most underprivileged, evoke a "hunger tsunami". The numerous testimonies collected by the association reveal this worsening distress. The food need is pressing: it affects 820 million people worldwide, 87 million Europeans - including 9 million in France. The Secours populaire defends dignified and qualitative food aid thanks to products from European aid, donations from manufacturers, producers and purchases of fresh products. There are many initiatives throughout France. In Clermont-Ferrand, for example, from June 17 to 20, the "pop'63 market for pleasure and health" will offer fruit and vegetables from short circuits, to families in difficulty, in a warm, festive and with the support of young people in cooking and agriculture training. Food aid is a basic need for millions of hungry and under-hungry people. They are also deprived in many areas: not being able to eat properly leads to the abandonment of certain fundamental rights such as the rights to health, education, culture, leisure, holidays, etc. The brutality and unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 health crisis reveals and widens inequalities. More than ever, the Secours populaire is mobilizing to confront a "tidal wave of misery" and support on all the most fragile fronts. The association´s volunteers are doing everything "so that summer doesn´t forget anyone." Thousands of people in difficulty will benefit from holiday stays, "Happiness Days", days of escape to the beach or in the forest, a cultural outing, a sporting activity ... to forget the difficult everyday life and strengthen ties family. This campaign receives significant support from the National Agency for Holiday Vouchers. In this context, the European Fund for Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), which enables millions of people to continue to eat, is threatened. Uncertainty hangs over its future and its budget of 550 million euros per year. At the end of the week, European heads of state will meet to determine the resources allocated to this crisis.People wishing to support the initiatives of Secours populaire can become volunteers or send a financial donation in all departments.
