Death of fashion designer Wren Scott ruled a suicide

USPA News - Renowned fashion designer L`Wren Scott, the long-time girlfriend of `Rolling Stones` icon Mick Jagger, committed suicide by hanging at her New York City apartment, the Medical Examiner`s Office said on Wednesday, confirming previous media reports. Scott, 47, was found dead at 10:05 a.m. local time on Monday when her assistant went to her penthouse apartment on 11th Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood on the West Side of Manhattan.
New York media had already reported that the fashion designer was found hanged from a scarf on a doorknob. "[The] cause of death is hanging and manner of death is suicide," Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, said in a brief e-mail on Wednesday. She confirmed the official cause and manner of death after an autopsy was carried out on Tuesday. Born Luann Bambrough, Scott was raised by adoptive parents in Utah and began her career as a model before moving to Los Angeles to become a fashion stylist, according to a biography on her company`s website. She was a renowned stylist and fashion designer whose clothes have been worn by A-listers including Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and many other celebrities. Makeup artist Bobbi Brown, who just last month worked with Scott on a cosmetics line called the `Bobbi Brown x L`Wren Scott Collection,` said she was "devastated" by the news of Scott`s death. "She was a visionary and designer who I very much enjoyed working with, but she was also smart and kind," Brown said on Monday. Scott was also well-known as the girlfriend of Jagger, who said through his spokesperson that he was "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott`s death. Jagger, who had been dating Scott since 2001, on Tuesday spoke about his girlfriend`s death for the first time in a brief message posted on his Facebook account. "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves," Jagger said in the message. "She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. ... I will never forget her." `The Rolling Stones` announced on Tuesday that they had decided to postpone their Australia and New Zealand tour following Scott`s death, but promising to reschedule them at a later date. "Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement," the band`s management said in a statement on Tuesday. The first show was scheduled to take place at Perth Arena in Western Australia on Wednesday, followed by a show at Adelaide Oval in South Australia on Saturday and a March 25 show at the Sydney Super Dome in the country`s largest city. Later shows were planned at Melbourne Rod Laver Arena on March 28, Macedon Ranges Hanging Rock on March 30, Brisbane Entertainment Center on April 2, and at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand on April 5. The `14 On Fire` tour is scheduled to move to Europe in June, with concerts in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Belgium.
