State Employees Urging AP Government To Implement Old Pension Scheme

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) promised in the Punjab elections to abolish the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Because of this assurance, the AAP won the elections with an overwhelming majority and formed their government in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagavat Maan fulfilled this promise as a gift of Divali and approved to continue Old Pension System (OPS). The AAP has shown that it is their government that fulfills the promises and assurances given to the employees of the state of Punjab. On the occasion of Diwali, the darkness has been dispelled and the lives of the state employees have been enlightened. On this occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagawat Mann proudly said that we should fulfill whatever Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal promised.

The governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have already restored the old pension system and cheered the hearts of the employees of their states. The Punjab government also joined them by their decision to restore the old pension scheme. The state government of Tamil Nadu is also ready to follow the same path. The AP state employees are wishing Andhra Pradesh government to follow the same path. Even though YSR Congress Party promised that they would cancel CPS within a week of coming to power, the employees are feeling that there has been no progress except delay.

The Punjab Chief Minister's announcement to implement the old pension scheme is indeed a great relief for the concerned state employees. Hearing this announcement, the Andhra Pradesh state employees are hopeful that their government will scrap the CPS. Those hopes are getting stronger especially among the employees working in YSR Kadapa district. They are waiting with hope that the Chief Minister of their state YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will soon announce such a sweet decision. On this occasion, the employees remind that YS Jagan in his long padayatra promised to cancel the CPS within a week if his party comes to power. While this is possible in other states, despite the special circumstances in Andhra, some employees are expressing hope that the Chief Minister YS Jagan will respond positively with more speed and continue the old pension system. The employees' associations are appealing to the Chief Minister YS Jagan, out of his generosity to fulfill the just demand of the state employees, who have been waiting for a long time.
