USPA NEWS -
Since the general strike which began on March 7 (eight days) in France, against the retirement reform, the garbage collectors have extended their strike until next Monday. Three of the four decent incineration plants in the Paris region are on strike. The consequences lead to a big controversy, following the accumulation of garbage. This is especially the case in Paris where more than 6,600 tons of garbage pile up in the streets of the French capital, aggravating the anger of Parisians, fearing the resurgence of rats which rise to the surface. This would probably be a matter of public health given the risk of disease transmission from rats to humans. Some oblivious tourists take pictures with selfies, alongside garbage. Rachida Dati, former Minister of Justice, and currently the mayor of the 7th arrondissement announced on Tuesday to seize the prefecture of police and the Minister of the Interior concerning the garbage collectors' strike which affects the capital. "Today, we have the possibility of saying a stop to this insalubrity. It is becoming a public health and safety problem", denounces Rachida Dati who fears the proliferation of rats which "are vectors of disease"
