ITALYS FAREWELL TO DIRECTOR LUCA RONCONI

Italy was in mourning Monday after revered theatre director and actor Luca Ronconi died from complications of flu aged 83 Sunday in Milan.
A private funeral will be held Tuesday in Umbria, his family said. Ronconi was renowned for his experimental work at Milan's Piccolo Teatro in more than 100 productions and for his teaching work at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, where he himself studied.
Born in Tunisia in 1933, he obtained his acting diploma at the Academy in the capital in 1953. His acting debut was in Three Quarters of the Moon, directed by Vittorio Gassman and Luigi Squarzina.
He subsequently worked with other top directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Orazio Costa, and Giorgio De Lullo.
