French Secretary of State for European Affairs,Mr Harlem Desir, is participating in the Western Balkans summit held in Vienna under the Austrian Presidency. The discussions focus on the reconciliation between the Western Balkans and the European Union ®ional cooperation. Not to mention migration
A SUMMIT BRINGING HEADS OF GOVERNMENT AND THEIR MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS--------------------
This summit brings together heads of government, ministers of foreign affairs or the economy and state secretaries from six Member States (Germany, Austria, Croatia, France, Italy, Slovenia) and countries of the Western Balkans (Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia) in the presence of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.----------------------------------The discussions focus on the reconciliation between the Western Balkans and the European Union and regional cooperation. Exchanges are provided on the following points:
- Migration, while the "Balkan route" has today become one of the main routes of illegal immigration into the EU;
- Transport and energy: 10 projects of regional interest will be co-financed by the European Union;
- Youth, including the creation of an office of the Balkans for youth. ------------------------------------------------------------------Alain Richard, Special Representative of Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy in the Balkans, will represent France at the meeting of economic ministers.
