The winners, Saraswati Upadhaya from Nepal and Charles Batte from Uganda, will travel to the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in December 2015 and work with the communications team of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in covering highlights of the meeting. have just won the 2015 Global Youth Video Competition.
The competition aimed to spotlight climate action videos by a number of young people, in the hope of prompting other young people, as well as political officials, to be just as active. Young people between the ages of 18 and 30, and from 60 different countries, were called upon to participate.

The video “Small Efforts for Big Change“ by Saraswati Upadhaya shows the vulnerability of regions in Nepal that need to deal with the impacts of climate change such as diminishing water supplies, and how local communities deal with the problem. The young activist also highlights her efforts to communicate her knowledge of climate change to children at local schools.
In his video, Charles Batte portrays the “Tree Adoption Uganda“ project which helps to combat climate change through tree planting. The project involves individual companies planting trees and provides employment for youth.
